Coming out as an Objectivist

This evening during and after my meeting I left clues to my philosophy in my meeting no details can be given. I also spoke with someone else there and told them I was an Objectivist after the meeting. I am slowly coming out to the people in my group as having the views I have. I am not sure if I will just come out and say it in one of these meetings. We will see, but, I always found coming out as on the political Right to be something that can get some pretty bad results. I could be whatever orientation, but, politically rightism was frowned upon. We shall see what happens as time goes on.

Another busy week for me

Once again my week has been busy with meetings and therapy sessions. Things are personally going quite well these days. I do get my own psychiatrist on April 1st and my new medications seem to be working well still. I have not come out as an Objectivist yet to anyone from the men's group. I have left little hints a bread trail if you will. I mentioned individualism vs collectivism a couple times.

I will continue to drop hints whenever subjects surrounding philosophy come up in the meetings. I might just let the facilitators know before one of these meetings. It is nothing I am ashamed of being known as. I also will spend tomorrow resting up as I have no meetings tomorrow. I am watching American Ninja at this time something I have not seen in a long time. It is just as good as ever

Signing off for the night,
Chris M.

Ayn Rand's Sacred Atheism (OCON 2014)

At the age of thirteen, Ayn Rand decided she was an atheist. Her reason: “the concept of God is degrading to man.” One major form of this degradation is religion’s effect on genuine values, including sacred values. This idea is prominent in her early writings and continues to be featured in The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged, as well as in her nonfiction. In this lecture and Q&A, recorded at Objectivist Summer Conference 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada, philosophy professor Robert Mayhew examines this aspect of Ayn Rand’s distinctive approach to atheism.

Headquartered in Irvine, California, ARI offers educational experiences, based on Ayn Rand's books and ideas, to a variety of audiences, including students, educators, policymakers and lifelong learners. ARI also engages in research and advocacy efforts, applying Rand's ideas to current issues and seeking to promote her philosophical principles of reason, rational self-interest and laissez-faire capitalism. ARI is composed of a dedicated board of directors and an energetic staff of more than 45 people. We invite you to explore how Ayn Rand viewed the world — and to consider the distinctive insights offered by ARI's experts today.
