I am against any bans that make it illegal to speak about sexual fluidity in a therapy context.

There is a push to ban any form of sexual orientation change while in therapy here where I live in Canada. This is not something I can in good conscious support.

Not if it is supposed to include stopping consenting and self-determined adults from being able to have non-abusive, non-abrasive, non-aversave, and, non-harmful forms of sexuality changes within a secular mainstream theraputic context.

Same-sex attraction can and often does change overtime towards mostly heterosexuality or complete heterosexuality in all the long term international longitudinal studies of people with same-sex attractions in their teens.

This is natural change over time and fluidity is the norm for human sexuality. There is no reason that natural change cannot be discussed as a real phenomenon by therapists and no evidence that talk therapy which uses properly certified and secular mainstream methods cannot have a supporting role in ones natural possible change and flexibility.

One should not be coerced or brainwashed into wanting to change their sexual identity. However, self-determined adults whom are experiencing the desire to change should not be forced to live a life they do not wish to live. Sexuality is flexible and more chaotic than most LGB activists will admit. This comes from someone that used too be involved with assisting putting on LGB dances in my local community and not some bigot.

In fact, I would be all for someone using therapy with help changing to the gay or lesbian side or even to become bisexual. It is all about the individual patient in therapy and whichever lifestyle helps you live a happy flourishing life with the least mental strain should be what is pursued.

The main words are self-determined and non-indictrinated consent. Not religious indoctrination and not presented that an outcome of little or no change means you are somehow disordered. The following quote from Scientific American matches my views on sexual orientation changes and how it should be looked at by outsiders.

"Just as gay people who are happy as they are should not be forced to change their sexual orientation, gay people who want to be straight should have the right to change if they can – and the correct word is “change” – not “cure”."
