Redeeming and Reforming "Theonomy" from the bottom up.

If someone brings up the word or term theonomy we should not shirk back and deny it. Instead we should redeem and reform theonomy as a movement from the bottom up by defining things properly. I have become over time a staunch and firm theonomist,  but, due to misunderstandings on what being one means people get freaked out over this. 

Theo = God's and nomy = Law. Properly defined all Confessional Biblical Christians have Historically been theonomic. Theonomy is the consistent application of God's Law as the standard over all areas of life; including the political/economical structure. As Protestant Reformed Christians all of our confessions and catechisms teach the continuing validity of the General Equity of God's Law for all time. 

This is by definition to be a proponent of theonomic ethics or theonomy in society. Theonomy does not entail by definition the continuing of the same civil penalties as those in National Israel. Only the abiding validity of God's Law Word in legislation. Something we all agree on in Biblical Christianity of various stripes. We need to redeem Theonomy and reform it from the ground up. By showing what a theonomy proponent really is in favor of  VS what "some" theonomists might have supported in the past.
