I have been upgrading my math and I am finding the curriculum an oddity. I fail to see where things like simplifying polynomials is used in the real world. I also find the course to be quite rusty. That could just be the little time for each term.
I can understand why our teenagers are being under served by our school system. We need to be more concerned with the life skills they will need once their schooling is over. People do not do fancy equations in the day to day world most people live in. My general class in High School was much more relevant.
I blame many things, but, the Prushen system behind our schooling looms heavy. Teenagers do not get the leeway we do as Adult Ed students. We have no bells to listen to and are treated like the adults we are. We can leave right after the instructor gives the lesson. The poor High School students get this nonsense mixed with much more in your face behavioral training.
I also wonder why they could not give us 6 months per Grade and take a year and a half. It would make it a much easier speed. My adventure in modern education continues and I will be back with more updates as I find stuff to add.
